CP2 Mini–Festival Auditions

CP2 Readers Theatre offers an exciting opportunity for actors, directors, and audience members to experience theater in a fresh way, with full dramatic readings of selected plays. No costumes, no sets, no props, and the actors perform with scripts in hand. These shows are an incredible opportunity to experience great theater stripped to its essence: the playwright’s words.

CP2 Audition Form

COVID AUDITION PROTOCOL: At this time, all actors must be Fully Vaccinated for Covid OR prepared to provide recent (72 hours) negative Covid tests on a regular basis. When you arrive for the audition, please be masked and prepared to show proof of vaccination OR a recent (72 hours) negative Covid test. The stage manager will provide the audition form (or you may download it from this page, print, fill it out, and bring it with you to the audition.)

SCHEDULE: Be prepared to list all possible conflicts. Rehearsal schedule will be respectful of performers’ time and conflicts. Please note, due to Covid restrictions, fully vaccinated actors planning to audition are asked to carefully consider travel out of state during rehearsals or performances.  County Players will follow current CDC guidelines for domestic and international travel restrictions for Fully Vaccinated individuals. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/index.html.  Note: There are separate sections for both domestic and international travel which are updated as Covid-19 levels fluctuate.

Once inside the theatre, you may be unmasked (if fully vaccinated) and/or to read for the audition.

Auditions date – Sunday, Oct 3
1-3pm – MARY’S WEDDING by Stephen Massicotte

Directed by Christine Crawfis

Time: July, 1920, two years after the end of the Great War (WWI).
Place:  The play takes place in Mary’s dream, the night before her wedding.
Readers Theatre format.
1 man, 1 woman
Charlie – young man in his twenties or thirties. About to go off to war.
Mary/Flowers – a young woman in her twenties or thirties. Mary is Charlie’s sweetheart. Flowers is an infantryman, serving alongside Charlie.
No preparation necessary. Cold readings from the script.

3-5pm – MOLLY SWEENEY by Brian Friel

Directed by Cindy Topps

Brian Friel’s Molly Sweeney is the story of Molly, a woman blind since infancy who is about to undergo an operation to restore her sight. The play is told through interwoven monologues by the three characters. Molly is happy with the life she has but her husband Frank pushes her to have an operation as he is convinced her vision is the key to their future. Mr. Rice, a once renowned eye surgeon, believes Molly’s operation will restore his career which was ruined by alcoholism.
The play takes place in Ireland so accents will be used for both Molly and Frank. Mr. Rice, although Irish, has lived and traveled the world so his accent can be less pronounced or identifiable.
