County Players to offer FREE Open House and Theatre Tours
Sunday, October 16 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Pull Back the Curtains!
To celebrate our 65th Anniversary of producing quality theatrical productions, and to give a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes magic, County Players is opening our doors to beloved audience and community members on Sunday, October 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The theatre will be offering self-guided tours starting at 1:00 p.m.
Whether a current audience member, subscriber, or just interested, the board of governors invite you to go behind-the-scenes to see how our productions comes together. According to County Players board president Jeff Battersby, “We’re excited to open our doors and ‘pull back the curtains’ for our Open House! Combining the talents of many volunteers is the only way we can bring our productions to life, and we want to share our stories and backstage spaces with everyone who witnesses the final results of our hard work and love of theatre.”
Upon arrival, guests will receive flyers with a map highlighting stations of interest where they can learn more about the various production departments. During the self-guided tour, attendees will have an opportunity to interact with our dedicated volunteer personnel and ask them about the theater’s history, day-to-day operations, and plans for the future.
Some areas of interest: start in the lobby at Box office; move into the theater to see live actors displaying various costume examples and learn how fashion throughout the ages influences each costume’s design; listen to show tunes and hear the musical rehearsal process from the printed page to the lighted stage. See live demonstrations of theatrical makeup application; learn about researching, locating, and organizing props and set pieces, hear from long-time volunteers on set design and construction.
Get to meet our house manager and understand how volunteers usher nearly 400 patrons to their seats. Learn from our resident technical director and lighting and sound designers to see various instruments that light the stage, or how they create special technical lighting and sound effects – magic influencing a designer’s choices that bring a director’s vision to life.
Tours will finally return guests to the lobby for information about upcoming shows and to sign up for volunteer opportunities.
County Players 65th Season is sponsored by Hudson Valley Credit Union.
–Proof of vaccination required to enter the theater. Masks are optional.–
