Perfect Arrangement

Directed by Sydnie Grosberg Ronga

AUDITIONS: AUG 4 & 5, 2024 | 7pm

It’s 1950, and new colors are being added to the Red Scare. Two U.S. State Department employees, Bob and Norma, have been tasked with identifying sexual deviants within their ranks. There’s just one problem: both Bob and Norma are involved in a carefully constructed cover-up.

Inspired by the true story of the earliest stirrings of the gay rights movement, Perfect Arrangement merges madcap sitcom-style laughs with provocative drama as two U.S. State Department employees struggle to maintain their cover – and their sanity – in mid-century America.

Setting: Washington DC, 1950
CAST
Bob Martindale – 30s/40s – WWII Vet – Solid man’s man. Good humored & well-mannered. Works at State Department.
Millie Martindale – late 20s/early 30s – Bob’s wife – Plays 50s housewife for others but is quick witted, observant and very smart.
Norma Baxter – 30s – Bob’s secretary. Efficient, classy dame. Witty, wise and level-headed when called for.
Jim Baxter –  late 20s/early 30s – Norma’s husband. High School teacher. Prankster type with a surplus of energy.
Theodore Sunderson – 40’s/50s. Bob’s boss – Bombastic and politic.
Kitty Sunderson – 40s – Teds wife. Very sweet, very genuine, but perhaps not the brightest bulb.
Barbara Grant – 40’s – Knows who she is and what she wants – no-nonsense, beautiful and brilliant.
